Although the Jacksonville Jaguars coaching staff adamantly stomped their feet suggesting Blake Bortles would remain on the sidelines all season as a backup, here we are in Week 4 with Bortles being given the starting nod.

For whatever reason, Gus Bradley and company believed they could survive with Chad Henne at quarterback but after three bad losses, a move was all but inevitable. Now the Jacksonville Jaguars’ coaching staff plans to expand the playbook for Blake Bortles including running more read-option situations according to John Oehser.
"I expect there to be a lot more throws downfield and a lot more hold-your-breath-wow-look-at-that plays. I also expect there to be more read-option. Lastly, I expect there to be a lot more mistakes, with a lot more reward for the risk."
While few will mind the extra downfield throws there is obvious concern regarding the increased use of the read-option. Yes, Blake Bortles is a very good running quarterback as he proved at the collegiate level, though how that translates to a quicker NFL is unknown. You certainly don’t want to put your star rookie quarterback at extra risk, though there’s no denying including the play in the Jacksonville Jaguars’ playbook will be good for the offense.
It doesn’t seem likely that Toby Gerhart will be on the field for most of those read-option situations so might we also see more of Denard Robinson in the near future as well?
