When Steve Kerr took over the head coaching job for the Golden State Warriors earlier this offseason, he knew expectations were going to be placed high.

In fact, expectations might be placed a little too high for somebody who has never coached at the NBA (or even college) level. Still, Kerr seems up to the challenge. But what if he and the Golden State Warriors stumble out of the gate? While it’s not expected that Kerr will be fired, it’s very possible a shakeup could be in the works according to the Mercury News.
"But one thing Kerr doesn’t have is time. The first-year head coach won’t get the luxury of patience. Not that he will get fired after this season. But another shake-up is coming — unless he takes the Warriors to a height his employers have never been."
Getting a team to the postseason is difficult enough in the NBA, let alone doing it in your rookie season as head coach. Of course, Steve Kerr will not only face that challenge but he’ll also have to do such in the incredibly deep Western Conference. It’s very possible that a 50-win season may not be enough to crack the top eight seeds in the West, so the task at hand isn’t going to be easy.
Thankfully for Kerr the Golden State Warriors do have an impressive roster and assuming they stay healthy, should have no problem challenging for a playoff birth.
