New York Knicks’ big man Amar’e Stoudemire has battled a lot of injuries over the last few years and the one-time all-star is coming off of the worst season of his career. He will likely be entering his final season with the Knicks and will look to prove he can still play before hitting free agency.

His new head coach believes Stoudemire is in for a big year but the team will be cautious with his minutes.
“Amar’e physically looks great. Looks like he’s in fantastic shape,” Derek Fisher said on Friday via Ian Begley of ESPN New York. “He’s very focused on coming into this season healthy and I think he’s accomplished that goal. … His knees will be an issue at some point, just manage his minutes in some respects, how we’ll limit him in practice, give him some days to get back up to speed and get some rest. But I think he’s willing to come in and buy in to what we want to teach and he’s ready to go and he’s excited.”
If Stoudemire can still healthy, it could go a long way towards getting the Knicks back in the playoffs.
Stoudemire had a rough 2013-2014 season despite staying relatively healthy (he missed 17 games). He put up just 11.9 points and 4.9 rebounds per game while shooting 55.7% from the field and 73.9% from the free throw line. Over his career, he has averaged 20.4 points, 8.3 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.3 blocks in 33.0 minutes per game while shooting 53.5% from the field and 76.2% from the charity stripe.
