Tampa Bay Buccaneers news: Mike Glennon to remain starting quarterback?
By Bryan Rose
As a rookie last season, Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Mike Glennon did a very solid job. No, he wasn’t a Pro Bowl signal caller by any stretch but given the circumstances it was hard not to be impressed with what he did.

Alas, it wasn’t enough to keep the starting quarterback job as Lovie Smith decided he preferred Josh McCown under center. In fairness to McCown, he had a wonderful 2013 campaign with the Chicago Bears as he handled duties for an injured Jay Cutler, though before that was thought to be nothing more than a journeyman quarterback.
Regardless, McCown started and was sub-par. Now he’s injured and it’s the expectation of the Tampa Bay Times that Mike Glennon will remain the Buccaneers quarterback for the rest of the season.
That sentiment seems to be a bit more speculation than actual fact, especially given Lovie Smith’s desire to see McCown under center. Still, McCown won’t play on Sunday and at best is week-to-week so Mike Glennon will certainly be given an opportunity to make an impression on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers coaching staff.
The 24-year-old Glennon finished the 2013 season with 19 touchdowns and 9 interceptions.
