Earlier this month the Sacramento Kings acquired Alonzo Gee in a trade with the Houston Rockets, though with a full roster they had no need for the veteran forward. Now a free agent after being released, Gee is drawing interest from around the league including from the Denver Nuggets.

More from Denver Nuggets

That’s the word from RealGM who says the Nuggets are ‘actively pursing’ Gee to join their franchise.

"Denver has expressed interest in Gee with a belief that his abilities fit their system, a five-year NBA veteran who would benefit the Nuggets with athleticism and defense in camp. Gee cleared NBA free agency waivers on Saturday."

Of course the Denver Nuggets aren’t the only team showing interest in the free agent as both the Los Angeles Lakers and Cleveland Cavaliers are said to be intrigued. Gee of course previously played for the Cavs and has a prior relationship with Lakers head coach Byron Scott which is why both are likely showing interest.

It’s doubtful the Cavaliers make much of a pursuit though given they’re still waiting on Ray Allen and the Lakers don’t seem willing to offer anybody anything outside of a minimum level contract.

If Alonzo Gee was to sign with the Denver Nuggets, he stands a good chance to make their final roster given they currently only have 13 guaranteed contracts and could use a player like Gee who can handle the wing.
