Falcons vs Vikings final score: Minnesota pulls away for 41-28 victory
By Hayden Kane
Minnesota Vikings’ fans turned their attention to rookie quarterback Teddy Bridgewater for their second home game of the season. Bridgewater provided plenty of reason for hope, but also had to be carted off with an injury late in this game. The Vikings were still able to outlast the Falcons in a high-scoring game, winning by a final score of 41-28.

Bridgewater played very well, throwing for 317 yards and rushing for another 27 yards. His top receiver was Jarius Wright, whom he connected with eight times for 132 yards. The Vikings did most of their damage running the ball. Matt Asiata started this game, running for 78 yards and three touchdowns.
Asiata was out-shined by rookie running back Jerick McKinnon, who ran for 135 yards of his own.
As for the Atlanta Falcons, they had a start and stop day on offense. Matt Ryan threw for 257 yards and three touchdowns. Atlanta wasn’t able to get much going on the ground, however, and if not for a couple big touchdown scores, they might have put up a modest showing offensively. Devin Hester took a short pass 36 yards for a touchdown, and then running back Antone Smith had a 48-yard run for a TD.
The Vikings retook the lead in the fourth quarter, but at that point all attention turned to Bridgewater, who was carted off with an ankle injury.
Vikings fans held their breath as Bridgewater went in for X-rays on the ankle. Thankfully those came back negative and Bridgewater returned to the sideline.
Finally, Minnesota put this game away late thanks to a couple interceptions, one by safety Harrison Smith and one by Josh Robinson, and two field goals from kicker Blair Walsh. To Ryan’s dismay, it was another ugly finish on the road for the Falcons.
With all of the off-field issues with Adrian Peterson over the last few weeks, it has been a tough stretch for the Vikings and their fans. This was exactly the kind of game they needed, as Bridgewater and the Vikings’ took advantage of a woeful Atlanta defense and gave their home crowd an exciting victory. Now they just have to hope for more good news about Bridgewater’s ankle.
