Following this morning’s report that Ndamukong Suh is preparing to leave the Detroit Lions after the season, it isn’t surprising that the big defensive tackle avoided the media after the Lions 24-17 win over the New York Jets.

From ESPN.com’s Michael Rothstein:

"Ndamukong Suh was nowhere to be seen in the locker room after the game as it appeared he cleared out before the media could chat with him. This is typical of him after road games and not surprising after the report this morning that he is preparing to leave Detroit after the season. Lions coach Jim Caldwell declined to discuss the report after the game saying, “I’m not going to even go there.”"

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported earlier today that both sides are preparing to move on, and that Suh would like to play in New York. The idea of the Big Apple appeals to him because he would be able to grow his “brand and his profile” and will explore playing with either the Jets or the Giants when his contract expires at the end of the season.

Players typically don’t avoid the media after a win, but this is obviously a different situation. The Lions will have to deal with these reports in house, if most of the locker room wasn’t already aware of Suh’s desire to leave the team. Not talking to the media before he addressed his teammates was the right thing to do. This way, the focus can remain on the Lions win.
