Steve Smith takes shot at Cam Newton’s football intelligence
By Bryan Rose
When Steve Smith was a member of the Carolina Panthers, he couldn’t speak highly enough about his quarterback Cam Newton. However, now a member of the Baltimore Ravens, it appears as if the veteran is having no problem throwing former teammates under the bus.

That includes Cam Newton who Smith took a shot at on Sunday morning.
Preparing to take on his former team, Smith was speaking to the media and suggested that Cam Newton doesn’t think quick enough to be a successful quarterback in the red zone as noted by Ian Rapoport.
While the stats certainly do point in favor of Steve Smith’s argument, the loud mouth wide receiver is a known crap talker and it seems likely he’s just attempting to get into Cam Newton’s head before the game. You’d have to assume Newton heard the sentiments shared by Steve Smith, which was likely the intent of the former Pro Bowl wideout.
To make the game even more interesting, Steve Smith is expected to be mic’d up against Cam Newton’s Carolina Panthers today, so it sounds like we could be watching some fireworks once the recordings are released.
