Atlanta Falcons place Joe Hawley on IR
By Josh Hill
The Atlanta Falcons are as up and down as any team in the NFL, if not more so than most. After blowing out the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 3, Atlanta traveled north to Minnesota where they were blitzed by a suddenly determined Vikings team.

Atlanta’s loss to the Vikings though was a lot worse than it seemed though, as the team will be without center Joe Hawley for the rest of the season. After going down and getting carted off the field, the Falcons on Tuesday announced that Hawley is out for the entire season with a knee injury.
It’s the second massive blow to the Falcons offensive line, as earlier in the season Sam Baker was lost for the year as well. With both of their offensive line leaders on IR, Atlanta will now lean even more on rookie Jake Matthews to step up and lead the unit like no one thought he’d have to.
