Being a star professional athlete is difficult enough, but to be such in the Big Apple? That’s even more difficult, something Carmelo Anthony of the New York Knicks is well aware of.

Anthony, who cherishes his private life (despite having a wife on a television show) apparently had questions about how to be a high profile name in New York which lead him to seek advice from Derek Jeter.

There was no timeline as to when Carmelo Anthony sought out Jeter, be it recently or in the past, though he admitted such to Ian Begley on Tuesday.

Carmelo Anthony went on to suggest the legendary shortstop was a ‘mentor’ of his and hopes to bring some of the things he learned to the basketball court for the New York Knicks.

It’s been a busy offseason for Carmelo who not only reached out to Derek Jeter but also spoke to Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant and Scottie Pippen about playing in the triangle.

Busy as that might be though, how in the hell did Derek Jeter have time to speak with Carmelo if they actually did so recently? He really was Superman.

Perhaps it was a passing of the torch? Anthony also attended Jeter’s final game in the Bronx and stated the moment gave him chills.
