Josh Hamilton is confident he will be able to play in the ALDS when the series starts Thursday.

More from Los Angeles Angels

Hamilton only appeared in 89 games for the Los Angeles Angels this season, and most recently has been dealing with shoulder and rib injuries.

He’s been progressing over the past few days, but the team will probably wait until as close to Thursday as possible to make a final call on if Hamilton can go for Game One or not.

The shoulder injury that bothered him for part of the season also limited him to just 10 home runs for the season, but when he’s healthy, he’s not only one of the best hitters on the Angels, but also among the best hitters in MLB. Jared Weaver is tabbed to start Game One, and the Halos will find out their opponent tonight with the Kansas City Royals hosting the Oakland Athletics in the Wild Card game, as the winner will advance to the ALDS and head to Los Angeles.

The Angels finished with the best record in the American League, and will have home-field advantage in the playoffs.
