Chicago Bulls rumors: Doug McDermott must earn floor time
By Bryan Rose
When it comes to the playing time of Doug McDermott this season, it appears as if nobody really knows what type of action the Chicago Bulls rookie will see.

After the Bulls acquired McDermott they couldn’t speak highly enough of the guard and insinuated that he’d be a regular rotation player this season. That sentiment continued on until recently when Chicago Bulls head coach Tom Thibodeau suggested otherwise.
It appears the gruff coach has taken a step back from his comments though and hinted that Doug McDermott will need to earn his playing time rather than discounting him playing much all-together.
“You can’t do it at the expense of winning or losing games. It’s important they earn their time. I think they will as we go along. How much, I don’t know yet. But shooting is one of the areas we wanted to address, and I think we’ve done that.”
While Thibodeau and the Chicago Bulls stress the importance of defense (something Doug McDermott lacks at this stage of his career) you have to think he’ll carve out a decent chunk of playing time if he can prove to shoot the ball efficiently.
The Chicago Bulls don’t have many warts though a lack of shooting is one problem area they routinely have. If McDermott can step in and fix that issue, his spot on the pine won’t last very long.
