By Mike Marteny
The Houston Texas have released running back Ronnie Brown. Brown was signed in August as an insurance policy for the oft-injured Pro Bowler Arian Foster.

Through four games this season, Brown had six carries for just four yards, and one reception for five yards. He has only seen game action in two of the four games. Rookie Alfred Blue and Johnathan Grimes were clearly ahead of Brown on the depth chart behind Foster. Even Jay Prosch was seeing more action than the 32 year old Brown.
Brown played in all 16 games last year with the San Diego Chargers as the backup to Ryan Mathews.
Ironically, the Chargers’ backfield is beat up this year with Ryan Mathews and Danny Woodhead both sidelined. That leaves just Donald Brown and Branden Oliver to carry the load for the Chargers. There is a strong possibility that the Chargers could reach out to Brown since not much has changed in a year..
Another is with the Carolina Panthers. DeAngelo Williams is now in a cast, suggesting that he will be out for quite some time. Mike Tolbert is also out, and Jonathan Stewart and Fozzy Whittaker are both questionable. If they can’t go, that leaves Darrin Reaves as the starter against the Bears this weekend. That said, they do have rookie Lache Seastrunk on the roster.
If this is the end of the line for Ronnie Brown, he racked up 5,332 yards in his ten NFL seasons to go with 38 touchdowns. He also caught 242 passes for 1,927 yards and two more touchdowns.
