Now the Minnesota Timberwolves seem committed to some of their young players, many believe they will deal veterans like guards J.J. Barea and Kevin Martin.

More from Minnesota Timberwolves

Chuck Myron of Hoops Rumors believes the Timberwolves will try to deal Martin if they fall out of contention early but thinks it would be tough to find a taker.

"I wouldn’t be completely shocked, but I think Flip wants to make a run at a playoff spot there, so if they’re in contention for one, I think he stays. If they get off to a slow start, I could see them dangling his contract, but it’d be tough to find a taker."

Martin is set to make $6,792,500 next season, $7,085,000 in the 2015-2016 season and has a player option worth $7,377,500 for the 2016-2017 season.

Martin averaged 19.1 points, 3.0 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.0 steals per game while shooting 43.0% from the field, 38.7% from beyond the arc and 89.1% from the free throw line last season. Martin, who was originally selected by the Sacramento Kings with the 26th-overall pick in the 2004 NBA Draft, has also played for the Houston Rockets and Oklahoma City Thunder. In his career, the former Western Carolina Catamount has put up 17.9 points, 3.3 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 0.9 steals per game while shooting 44.2% from the floor, 38.5% from three and 86.9% from the charity stripe.
