Apparently torching the Carolina Panthers on the field wasn’t enough for Steve Smith as the Baltimore Ravens wide receiver took it the airwaves on Wednesday unloading on his former franchise in an epic rant.

More from Baltimore Ravens

Smith, who has essentially been painted as a malcontent by the Carolina Panthers refuted such reports and decided to leave many in his wake after ripping his long-time organization during an interview on WFNZ.

“Every time I keep reading stuff and reports come out, I just think I was stabbed in the back,” Smith said. “Just like coach Rivera said he wasn’t a sore loser, but yet he never even spoke to me through the whole ordeal.”

Steve Smith didn’t stop the onslaught with Ron Rivera though, saving some of his more brutal comments for general manager Dave Gettleman.

"Smith ripped Panthers GM Dave Gettleman too claiming the GM told Smith when the two met he was a “shadow” of his former self and that Smith was “jealous” of Cam Newton. Smith claims he asked Gettleman if this was “about a paycut” and Gettleman “laughed and said ‘No it’s not about a paycut but thanks for asking.'””He doesn’t even have the cojones to tell us to our face [about the release].”"

Some may suggest Steve Smith is simply hanging on to a non-needed grudge (and they may be right) though it’s clear he’s still extremely bitter about how the whole situation went down which is understandable.

Of course Smith’s tendency to be a talker might come back to haunt him in this situation as it’s difficult to tell what’s truth and what’s an exaggeration. Should be interesting to see if the Carolina Panthers respond to Smith’s ripping.
