NFL owners unanimously approve Terry Pegula as Buffalo Bills owner
By Cory Buck
The NFL owners have unanimously approved Terry Pegula as Buffalo Bills owner.
Terry Pegula and his wife Kim have been unanimously approved by NFL owners as the next owners of the Buffalo Bills. While this step was a foregone conclusion given the heft of the Pegulas’ bid and the nature of their resources, this day still serves as the final nail that will secure the Buffalo Bills to Western New York in both the short and long term. Rest easy, Buffalo Bills fans. Your team is going nowhere.

The approval of the Pegulas as owners caps what had been a wild bidding process that spanned from late last spring up until Wednesday morning when owners approved of Pegula’s $1.4 billion offer to purchase the Buffalo Bills. Pegula, also the owner of the NHL’s Buffalo Sabres, entered what became a three-horse race for the Bills that quickly narrowed down just to himself.
Donald Trump was interested in the team, but it was rumored that NFL owners would never approve his bid. Jon Bon Jovi led a group infamously dubbed ‘The Toronto Group‘ because they wanted to move the Bills to Toronto in the long term. Neither group could or would front the cash that the Pegulas offered and the Toronto Group’s thinly veiled intentions did them in, leaving the Pegulas with the only competitive bid on the table.
The Buffalo Bills will likely welcome the Pegulas with a special introduction prior to their Week 6 home game against the New England Patriots. If the team really wants to give its owner a special welcome, they can beat the division bully that has beaten the Buffalo Bill in every one of their bi-annual games save for one since 2003.
