When A.J. Green was initially injured, the Bengals reported that Green’s foot injury was minor, but after being carted off during practice some 24 hours ago, that injury looks to have gotten worse.
In an interview on Siriux XM, Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis stated Green’s injury was ‘a little bit more than that’ when asked if the receiver was currently suffering from turf toe.
No matter how well the Bengals were playing as a unit prior to their Sunday Night loss to the New England Patriots, it’s going to be hard for this group to make up for the absence of Green, especially against a tenacious defense like the Panthers.
With no Green, a dangerous outside threat, in the lineup allows the Panthers to key in on the Bengals’ running game lead by Giovani Bernard and Jeremy Hill. The duo has rushed for a combined 380 yards and five touchdowns. By adding players in the box to stop the run, this adds pressure on Andy Dalton to create through the air.
The Bengals are currently 3-1 and sit atop the AFC North division.
