Michael Jordan Doesn’t Want Shorter NBA Season

There is nothing wrong with the length of the season. At least that is what NBA Hall of Famer Michael Jordan believes.

According to reports, Micheal Jordan, considered nearly universally as the NBA’s “GOAT,” has been vocal about the suggested shortening of the basketball season.

Contemporary players such as 4 time league MVP LeBron James and 2007 MVP Dirk Nowitzki have been outspoken about the length of the current NBA schedule. The Chicago Bulls legend, however, does not really agree with this sentiment.

“I love both of those guys, but as an owner who played the game, I loved playing. If I wasn’t playing 82 games, I still would’ve been playing somewhere else because that’s the love for the game I had. As a player, I never thought 82 games was an issue” said Jordan, who spoke to ESPN over the phone.

As an owner, he does appear to be open to discussing the notion though.

“But if that’s what they want to do, we as owners and players can evaluate it and talk about it. But we’d make less money as partners. Are they ready to give up money to play fewer games? That’s the question, because you can’t make the same amount of money playing fewer games.”

For the record, MJ is spot on here. Money talks, and something tells me that players are going to realize that their wallets are probably bigger than their hearts. I am certainly not an athlete, but I for one, have never turned down the opportunity to make more income with my career. I doubt these players are any different.
