What does this mean for Buffalo? It could potentially provide the team with a much needed boost offensively. They currently sit at 4-3, one game back of the New England Patriots for first place in the AFC East. Quarterback Kyle Orton just Uncle Rico’d his way into all of our hearts on Sunday, however, many feel that the team needs more support if they want to ultimately contend by season’s end. While rookie wide receiver Sammy Watkins has looked impressive this season to the tune of 35 receptions, 433 yards and 4 TD, it is simply not enough. The Bills desperately need to get something started on the ground.

Fred Jackson is gone now too, so at this very moment, the team is relying on backups Anthony Dixon and Bryce Brown. Who will be designated with “starter” status? For now, it is anyone’s guess.

The point remains that if the Bills want to remain a force on the offensive side of the ball, they need to fortify the run game. And there is not a single better option on their roster than Spiller. Although he only has 287 yards on the season, he was maintaining a decent average of 4.2 yards per carry before injuries sidelined him. Jackson had a slightly higher average of 4.3, however, it does not appear the team will be seeing him on the field anytime soon.
