While a good portion of the country was sleeping, the Detroit Lions put together a comeback for the ages across the pond as they took on the Atlanta Falcons in London.
Down multiple scores going into the second half, the Lions appeared to be dead in the water but that’s when the arm of Matt Stafford got to work – with a little help from a woeful Atlanta secondary.
Stafford brought the Lions back and put the team in position for a game-winning field goal with just seconds left. Of course, the Detroit Lions did everything they could to shoot themselves in the foot which included a missed field goal, though the play was negated ironically over a delay of game.
Alas, the Detroit Lions were given yet another attempt to win in a rather comical set of sequences and finally got the job done in the international match.
It was a game the Detroit Lions had little business winning, but that won’t show in the standings. Understandably left for dead in the early portion of the game, players were extremely excited for the victory. So excited, in fact, that a player in street clothes lost his pants during the celebration.
Thankfully it was only the pants that fell and nothing more as that could have caused many to lose their breakfast.
Well, outside of fans of the Atlanta Falcons who probably had already lost theirs after blowing their massive lead.
