Baltimore Ravens’ Dennis Pitta Unsure Of NFL Future

Baltimore Ravens tight end Dennis Pitta isn’t sure about his NFL future.

Just a few seasons ago, Baltimore Ravens tight end Dennis Pitta was among the elite at the position in the NFL. Then a freak hip injury occurred resulting in the veteran missing most of the 2013 season.

While the injury was scary and required multiple operations, Pitta thankfully returned this season and looked ready to return to form.

That was before the unthinkable happened and Dennis Pitta suffered yet another devastating hip injury, one that could possibly keep him away from the gridiron for good.

The Baltimore Ravens fan favorite says it’s too early to make a decision regarding his future though understands it’s possible he may never play again.

“In a few months, we’ll see how I’m feeling and how things are going, and we’ll be able to make some determinations then. It’s still too early to kind of tell, and I’ll continue on like I did last year and get myself ready to get back on the field.”

Like many who’ve been injured before, Pitta wants to return to the field and seems determined to do so. He’s not blind to the fact that it could be wishful thinking however.

“With an injury like this, I think there’s always doubt and there’s always uncertainty,” Pitta said. “That was the case last year. I didn’t know if I’d be able to make the full recovery and get back on the field, and it’ll be the same this time. It’s a pretty serious injury, and something that takes time to heal and something that has to heal correctly in order to get back out there. So I’m being patient, we’ll see when that time comes.”

Hopefully a full recovery is in Dennis Pitta’s future but you have to wonder if playing in the NFL again is a smart move for the Baltimore Ravens tight end. Life after football is more important and he needs to make sure another possible injury wouldn’t impact such down the road.
