The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will activate their rookie RB this Sunday. He is expected to see some in-game action.

The Buccaneers are looking to ignite their offense. That is why they have made the call to activate rookie Charles Sims today. He is expected to play on Sunday against the Cleveland Browns, NFL insider Ian Rapoport reports.

Tampa Bay is currently just 1-6, and is watching any semblance of playoff hopes deteriorate before their very eyes. Although they play in an NFC South division that hosts a measly 4-4 first place squad in the form of the New Orleans Saints. there has been little to no indication that the team’s fortunes will turn around anytime soon.

The team’s running back core is a talented front, albeit an underachieving one. Doug Martin is currently hurt, and Bobby Rainey has been limited in production this season with just 247 yards and 1 TD on the year. Tampa also sports Mike James at 3rd on the depth chart.

Sims rushed for 1,095 yards and 11 TD in his lone season with University of West Virginia, following three previous years with Houston, earning All-Big 12 First Team honors in the process. The Buccaneers took him in the 3rd round with the 69th pick of the 2014 NFL Draft.
