Former Kansas City Chiefs and Pro Bowl running back Priest Holmes will be inducted into the team Hall of Fame.

More from Kansas City Chiefs

While Preist Holmes didn’t begin his career with the Kansas City Chiefs it’s where he had the best seasons of his rather short career.

Given that the team plans to honor the talented running back by inducting him into the Chiefs’ Hall of Fame on Sunday afternoon at Arrowhead Stadium.

Holmes, who joined the Chiefs after spending four seasons with the Baltimore Ravens quickly emerged as Kansas City’s franchise player where he was selected to three straight Pro Bowl’s.  He also became the organization’s all-time leading rusher despite playing just playing portions of six injury plagued seasons for the franchise.

Sadly things didn’t end as Priest Holmes and Kansas City Chiefs fans would have hoped as after three record breaking seasons Holmes struggled to remain on the field, never playing in more than 8 games during a regular season again.

He was passed earlier this season by Jammal Charles who currently owns the all-time rushing record for the Kansas City Chiefs.

Still, there’s no denying Priest Holmes’ importance to the franchise even if it was somewhat short-lived.

Holmes finished his time in Kansas City with 6070 rushing yards, 76 touchdowns and averaged an extremely impressive 93.4 yards per game on the ground. The Arkansas native wasn’t too bad catching passes out of the backfield either as he added an additional 8 touchdowns to his total.

Ironically enough, Preist Holmes will be honored against the New York Jets, a team who he had a career game against.

Back in 2002, Holmes who was at the height of his stardom ripped the Jets for 152 yards and a touchdown and also caught nine passes for 81 yards and a score. More importantly, he nabbed a short pass from then quarterback Trent Green in the final seconds of the game to secure the victory.
