The Cleveland Browns say they don’t plan to force the ball to Josh Gordon when he returns from his NFL suspension.

More from Cleveland Browns

In just a few weeks Josh Gordon will make his long anticipated season debut for the Cleveland Browns.

Suspended since the start of the season, Gordon will presumably take the field against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 12 and it’s believed the Pro Bowl wideout is ‘ready to unload‘ on his opponents.

That of course will take the assistance of the Cleveland Browns’ offense who apparently doesn’t intend to force the ball to the wide receiver.

When healthy there’s an argument to be made suggesting that Josh Gordon is perhaps the best wide receiver in the NFL. Given that there’s plenty of reason for the Cleveland Browns to force the ball to Gordon who has previously made jaw-dropping play after jaw-dropping play during his first two seasons in the league.

Add in that the Cleveland Browns are lacking in the wide receiver department and their rushing game has been suspect (especially given Alex Mack’s absence) and it seems rather silly to suggest Josh Gordon will need to ‘fit’ into the offense.

Simply put the Cleveland Browns don’t have much of an offense and Josh Gordon will immediately become the best offensive player on the field when he suits up. Choosing not to extensively throw to the Pro Bowl wideout would be a rather poor decision though given what we’ve seen from the coaching staff this season, it wouldn’t exactly be shocking.

Still, Gordon who’s been able to workout with the Browns and be at their practice facility should routinely be leading the Browns in receptions even if he isn’t force fed the ball.
