On Wednesday morning the Buffalo Bills received a scare regarding the status of rookie wide receiver Sammy Watkins who came up lame during practice.

Watkins has been dealing with an unhappy groin for a few weeks now though seemed to tweak it during routine activities. He was quickly removed from the field though thankfully it appears disaster has been avoided as the Buffalo Bills don’t feel the injury is serious.

Groin injuries have proven themselves to be extremely frustrating and temperamental in regards to recovery. While some players can play through mild strains, they tend to linger and understandably result in sub par play from many dealing with them.

That hasn’t been the case for Sammy Watkins however as he’s amassed extremely impressive totals of 122 and 127 yards in his previous two games. Hopefully the groin issue doesn’t get any worse over the next few days and he’ll be able to return to full health.

Watkins has emerged as not only one of the best NFL rookies with quarterback Kyle Orton under center for the Buffalo Bills now, but is quickly becoming one of the best wide receivers in the league.

Assuming there are no setbacks and the MRI returns clean as hoped/expected, Sammy Watkins should be in line for his usual work in Week 10. It’s not known if the Buffalo Bills will give him the rest of the week off in regards to practice or if they’ll put him through light work, though they’ll obviously be cautious in whatever plan they choose.
