Brian Hoyer and Devon Still shared a moment before Thursday Night Football that showed that this game between the Cincinnati Bengals and Cleveland Browns is about much more than football.
There will be the action on the field. There will be the battle of Ohio and a team that can stake its claim to first place in the AFC North. Those factors will matter in the big picture of the NFL season, but they won’t be what we remember from Thursday Night Football in week 10.

This game is all about Devon Still and his daughter Leah, who has been courageously battling pediatric cancer. Leah is in attendance to watch her dad play, and that has led to a number of touching moments.
For all of the nonsense and negative stories that sometimes emerge, this is when sports will get things right. This is when sports can genuinely give us a chance to step back, come together, and understand the things that really matter.
That was reflected, I think, in this moment between Browns’ quarterback Brian Hoyer and Still on Thursday night.
Eventually the teams got to the action on the field and a game for first place in the AFC North. But there were some pretty special moments in advance of the game and as the night wore on in honor of Leah Still.
