Kenneth Faried of the Denver Nuggets admits to flopping on the elbow from Steve Blake of the Portland Trail Blazers.

On Sunday night the Portland Trail Blazers and Denver Nuggets exchanged fireworks and they weren’t just on the scoreboard.

Portland came away with a 106-100 win though midway through the 4th quarter, Denver Nuggets forward Kenneth Faried gave Trail Blazers guard Steve Blake a hard back screen. That didn’t sit well with Blake who promptly delivered an equally hard elbow and mild shove to Faried.

It was certainly enough to make Kenneth Faried to shuffle his feet but to completely knock the “Manimal” off his feet like a stiff wind? Seemed a little odd.

Perhaps that’s because Faried flopped on the play? Most players wouldn’t admit to such though the forward says he milked the elbow to make sure the foul would be called.

“He got mad I back-picked him,” said Faried. “I’m playing offense, I’m making sure my point guard got open, and he ran into the back pick trying to go to my point guard. Then he got mad about it and pushed me. Yeah, I fell down to make sure the ref saw it.”

Both players had to be separated while the Nuggets star walked away with a grin on his face.

While Kenneth Faried admitted that he flopped will get him some brownie points among NBA faithful, it’s probably not going to be well received in the league office who of course is frowning upon such. The admission also threw the referee under the bus though it was an obvious foul so he shouldn’t be chastised for making an incorrect call by the NBA.

Had Faried simply kept his mouth shut or suggested that he fell down because of the hit he probably would have been left alone by the league though the admission of a flop will likely cost him some money due to a flopping fine.
