It seems that on a yearly basis there is one baseball card company who takes advantage of a fantastic marketing ploy.
This year it’s no different as Bowman has taken the opportunity to distribute Johnny Manziel baseball cards, some of which come with his autograph.
You may recall the San Diego Padres drafting the Cleveland Browns quarterback and while the former Texas A&M signal caller will never suit up for the Friars (barring something catastrophic), Bowman wasn’t going to let the chance to create cards using the polarizing figure pass.
While it’s not known what Bowman paid Johnny Manziel to autograph the cards, you have to think it will end up being a solid investment considering there aren’t many prospects who come along with the name and value of Manziel.
The upcoming 2014 Bowman Draft baseball card set will be made available on December 10th according to Topps, parent owner of Bowman.
Odds of pulling a Johnny Manziel card are not known at the current moment, though yanking an autographed Manziel card is probably pretty unlikely given Bowman wants them to be rather special. It’s possible the inclusion of Manziel in a baseball card set may irritate the purists but for those looking to make a mint on places like eBay, they’ll be scooping up packs with reckless abandonment.
