It’s become tradition that the Detroit Lions play on Thanksgiving Day and it’s also become tradition they wear their throwback uniform (despite not doing so for two consecutive seasons).
One of those things won’t be happening next Thursday though as the Lions will reportedly not wear their iconic throwback jersey according to Paula Pasche. More than that, not only will the Detroit Lions skip out on wearing their throwback jersey this week, they won’t be wearing them at all this year.
No reason was given as to why the Detroit Lions won’t be wearing their throwback uniform. In terms of fan reaction, it appears as if such is split down the middle as some are happy to see what they deem as ugly duds not seeing the field while others appear to be disappointed over the news.
Perhaps the Detroit Lions should morph away from their basic throwback which was worn from 1961 to 1969 and wear the uniform made popular by Barry Sanders and company moving forward. The change will be subtle, but it will still pay homage to the years gone by and still give Detroit a classic look when they’re on the field.
