The traditional “greenback” look of parchment appears to be taking a backseat to sleek, simplistic, yet scenic imagery; creating a sort of technological feel. In true fiat form, the phrase “this currency is upheld by the integrity of its people” graces the back of each note.
Perhaps this face lift of traditional fiat currency would be a good thing for all involved. If we truly are a capitalistic economy, the imagery of our monetary exchange should reflect that.
By featuring portraits of past presidents/historical founding figures, our currency is inherently non-secular from the government. It is worth noting that a government secular currency (at least in recorded human history) is a complete and utter fallacy. An arbitrary party is a necessity when dealing with finance between individuals and businesses.
Historically, we have seen the effects of societies that were left to self-govern/regulate. It has not been a pretty picture, to say the least.
Free enterprise without fear of government regulatory action (a true laissez faire model), may not necessarily be the best solution, but these dollar bills are an interesting concept if nothing else. Plus, they look really really cool.
