For weeks Cleveland Browns fans (and fantasy football players) counted down the days until Josh Gordon’s NFL mandated suspension was over and the wide receiver could return to the field.
Now two games in, the results have been rather uninspiring despite Gordon filling up the box score.
The wide receiver has amassed 195 yards on 15 catches in the two tilts, doing so on an absurd 29 targets. Needless to say, the Cleveland Browns who adamantly stomped their feet suggesting they wouldn’t force feed the ball to the wideout have ended up force feeding the ball.
It has seemingly hurt the play of signal caller Brian Hoyer who has seen his quarterback rating plunge in the two games Josh Gordon has played.
Without Josh Gordon in the lineup, Brian Hoyer has a 86 QB rating & 11-5 TDs-INTs. With him? 51.7 rating, 0-5 TD-INT. Acclimation takes time

Hoyer, who is living to see another day after fighting off backup Johnny Manziel for yet another week didn’t have much time with Josh Gordon last season as he was hurt, though the two did play in three games together. Statistically those games were fine for Gordon (as they’ve been this season) who had two touchdowns in those three weeks, though Hoyer only had a quarterback rating of over 69.5 once.
The quarterback has shown a tendency to loft the ball up and with Gordon’s unfamiliarity and sometimes lack of desire to go up and get it, it seems as if the two have struggled to get on the same page so far.
Hopefully for both players and Cleveland Browns fans, they’ll be able to create some chemistry and do so quickly before time runs out on the season.
