There’s no denying that Indianapolis Colts signal caller Andrew Luck is one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL. However, for a quarter on Sunday afternoon Luck looked relatively human and it ended up in the Colts’ franchise player being turned into roadkill by the Cleveland Browns.
With just seconds left in the first quarter, the Colts were backed up near their own end zone and with the Dawg Pound screaming, Luck apparently didn’t get his read off quickly enough allowing members of the Cleveland Browns defense to penetrate the backfield.
Had Luck simply fallen down the Colts would have likely been able to avoid disaster, but a smart play by the Browns defense to keep Luck on his feet when he was first touched proved to be vital as a secondary hit knocked the ball out of Andrew Luck’s hand.
Unfortunately for the Indianapolis Colts, it bounced into the end zone where Craig Robertson of the Browns recovered the fumble for a touchdown.
That was a five second stretch of every worst case scenario unfolding for the Colts (sans injury) as not only was Luck sacked, but he was hit hard and the fumble bounced the wrong way instead of out of the end zone.
