When an NFL division manually manufactures a winner-take-all division championship game in Week 17, it creates much drama. Every play, scheme and play call becomes that much more important, and the Pittsburgh Steelers and Cincinnati Bengals are defining important tonight.
After Antonio Brown got the party started with an electrifying punt return touchdown as he completely reversed field, Bengals running back Giovani Bernard quickly answered with a gem of his own.
In the classically defensive-oriented AFC North division, the skilled players on these two teams have already showcased a lot on Sunday Night Football.
Jeremy Hill is the other running back in the two-headed monster of the Bengals backfield, and he already has eclipsed 60 yards in the game. Much like quarterback Andy Dalton does in primetime games, he’s already thrown two interceptions.
Rumors prior to the game had Ben Roethlisberger suffering from an upset stomach, but he’s taken the field and has looked as good as he normally does in the big spot. He already has one touchdown toss to his new toy Martavis Bryant.
The winner tonight will win the AFC North and host a playoff game next week while the loser will reluctantly take a Wild Card spot and take their act on the road.
