The Cleveland Browns announced some surprising disciplinary measures on Saturday, announcing that rookie quarterback Johnny Manziel was fined for missing treatment and wide receiver Josh Gordon was suspended for missing a walk through practice.
It makes you wonder what caused the two of them to be absent from their responsibilities, and now it looks like we have an answer.
From Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com:
"Johnny Manziel threw a big party Friday night that resulted in his fine for being late for treatment Saturday morning and Josh Gordon suspended for missing the Saturday walk-through, several sources told cleveland.com."
She goes on to clarify that Gordon was at Manziel’s party with other teammates.
It is interesting because it puts a whole new context to reports that their Browns teammates were concerned about them when they weren’t present for a walk through. Given their history and notorious off-field issues, the players very well could have been concerned that either one of them got themselves into a bad situation.
Fortunately that wasn’t the case, but the Browns did send security to look for Manziel when he didn’t show up.
