Cincinnati Bengals star wide receiver A.J. Green was the team leader in jersey sales for the 2014 season, and finished 16th in the league overall.
A.J. Green has had some tough injury luck this season, and is currently dealing with a concussion as the NFL Playoffs begin for the Cincinnati Bengals next week on the road against the Indianapolis Colts. He finished the season with 69 receptions for 1,041 yards and six touchdowns, and made a huge difference for the Bengals when he was on the field.
Green finished the season as the leader in jersey sales for the entire Bengals’ team, and also finished 16th in the entire NFL. DICK’s Sporting Goods has a Jersey Report that keeps track of every single NFL jersey sale in all of their stores and online. That is how these numbers are measured, and Green ended up being a top-20 player.
Cincinnati doesn’t have much of a chance in the playoffs if their star receiver is unable to play due to the concussion. That is the type of impact that he makes for them when he is on the field, and he causes matchup problems for opposing defense. Rookie running back Jeremy Hill has been carrying a heavy load on the ground, but Green through the air makes things much more difficult for defenses to stop the rushing attack.
All of that being said, Green is still one of the most popular players in the NFL and is even one slot ahead of Aaron Rodgers in jersey sales.
At 26 years of age, he has plenty of good football left in his career. He has nowhere to go but up, and the jersey sales will continue to rise as he continues to play consistently good fooball.
