A.J. Green is the Cincinnati Bengals’ best offensive playmaker, but it isn’t looking likely that he’ll be able to play this week in their Wild Card match up against the Indianapolis Colts this weekend. He will be missed in a big way, and the Bengals’ offense is going to have a bit of a hole without him in the lineup.
Green suffered the concussion that is likely going to force him out of the wildcard game against the Pittsburgh Steelers last Sunday night. He hasn’t been able to get back on the practice field and pass the concussion protocol, and without that there is no way that he can play. Indianapolis would be dodging a major bullet if Green can’t play, as they have a very inconsistent secondary.
Throughout his four NFL seasons, Green has made the Pro Bowl in all four years. He caught 69 passes for 1,041 yards and six touchdowns in 2014. At 6’4″ and with the athleticism he possesses, he would have been a matchup nightmare for the Colts’ defensive backfield.

Cincinnati is going to need to play a near perfect game to come out of Indianapolis with a win against a very talented Colts team. Andy Dalton has not shown the ability to be a consistent quarterback throughout his career, and not having his top wide receiver is going to hurt him this week.
It will be intriguing to see what the Bengals’ gameplan is against the Colts this week, and whether or not Jeremy Hill can step up to the challenge and put up a big game from the running back position.
The Bengals are going to need some players to step up without Green, especially guys like Hill and Mohamed Sanu. Green will be missed on the field, but the Bengals have had to play with him sidelined before this year. Cincinnati has the potential to step up and fill the void that he is going to leave, but it isn’t going to be easy.
