This morning, Rich Eisen provided a heartfelt tribute to his long-time friend Stuart Scott on the set of NFL Network’s Gameday Morning program. It happened only 10 minutes after hearing about his tragic passing.
Both NFL Wild Card games were played today, and Eisen stuck to the set to recap the day of action.
With a little inspiration, he recapped the Indianapolis Colts 26-10 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals:
“Can I get a witness from the congregation,” “everybody better recognize,” and of course “as cool as the other side of the pillow” were just a few of the familiar Scott phrases uttered by Eisen during the game recap.
Eisen, of course, teamed with Scott during the glory days of ESPN’s SportsCenter back in the late 1990’s, and considers him a dear friend to this day.
As much action as the Colts–Bengals game featured on the field, in the minds of many it will now forever be remembered as Eisen’s highlighted-tribute for his fallen friend.
It was indeed a fitting way to end the NFL Wild Card weekend, as Eisen “broke off something proper” tonight.
