One of the biggest prospects in the world, Martin Ødegaard finally signed with Real Madrid on Wednesday with a reported £80,000 per week deal for the 16-year-old.
The former Strømsgodset player was widely pursued by many top European clubs after he quickly rose to prominence in the Danish league. Training with clubs such as Arsenal, Celtic, Ajax, Bayern Munich, Liverpool and more, Ødegaard was clearly in high demand.
And after signing with Los Blancos, Ødegaard seems to have realized how proud (or serious) his new club were of their history and star player in Cristiano Ronaldo, going on to delete all his old tweets in which he personally praised rival team, Barcelona’s Lionel Messi.
LOL Odegaard has deleted his tweets about Messi :p how pathetic is that :p pic.twitter.com/nhPxCZQreS

The Norwegian may have risked the wrath of Real Madrid fans who didn’t notice the tweets but Barcelona fans will surely be taking screenshots of them.
At least he wasn’t pictured in a Barcelona jersey like current Real Madrid stars, Luka Modric and Isco, who were all presumably fans of the Catalan club before they made their eventual moves to the capital.
Ødegaard however was excited about his new opportunity:
"“It’s going to be very exciting to train with this team. I’m very enthusiastic and can’t wait to start training,” Ødegaard said. “All the players have a lot of class. There is Cristiano Ronaldo as the best player in the world, I like Gareth Bale too and Isco, I could name all of them.”"
Do you expect Ødegaard to be in Los Blancos’ first team in the near future? Let us know in the comments!
