Martin Ødegaard signs for Spanish giants Real Madrid at just 16-years of age.

Today, 16 year old Martin Ødegaard has completed his dream move to arguably the biggest soccer team in the world. Born in 1998 (just let that sink in), Ødegaard has been highly sought after by a number of Europe’s elite teams including Machester Utd, Bayern Munich and Liverpool. Much speculation has surrounded the teenager over the last year, that’s right…he was 15 when these clubs wanted his signature.

However he has put the speculation to an end by today signing for Real Madrid.

When I was 16 I was trying to use my brother’s ID to get in to bars, not signing a multi-million euro contract with soccer giants Real Madrid.

BBC Sports reported that the teenager cost the Spanish club around $3,400,000 which isn’t bad considering he should be studying instead of playing soccer professionally at his age.

I can’t even imagine how the young man is feeling right now, if most teenager want to play for Real Madrid they have to buy FIFA for the Ps4 or Xbox. Not only does he get to play football for a living, it seems that it is quite a living indeed. The teenager is earning a reported $121,095 A WEEK! I can’t even put that in to context for that age.

This came across my Twitter feed and it pretty much sums up everyone’s thoughts on the matter.

All jokes aside, it is an incredible achievement for anyone to get signed professionally, especially for Real Madrid. There has been much said about the boy, people have compared his playing style to that of Lionel Messi. He is also the youngest player in history to receive a full international cap in a European Qualifier…That’d be nice.

His new manager had this to say:

"“A kid with talent and personality“.- Carlo Ancelotti“It’s a dream come true. It is a bit unreal that I’m here at the biggest club in the world. It’s huge for me, an honour.”- Martin Ødegaard"

Hopefully there isn’t too much pressure being put on the guy and he continues to show incredible promise. He has plenty of time to show off his talent and the sky is the limit for this future superstar.

Now that you’ve seen the tweets and the quotes, why not look at a video and get a little taste of why there is such a big deal being made about this Norwegian teenager.
