A few fans decided to tweet to New England Patriots corner back Malcolm Butler to congratulate him on the game winning interception of Russell Wilson. Unfortunately, they got Darius Butler of the Indianapolis Colts.

The New England Patriots won Super Bowl XLIX against the Seattle Seahawks. The key play of the entire game came when, with under a minute remaining, quarterback Russell Wilson threw a slant pass at the one yard line in an attempt to score the potential game winning touchdown. Pats corner back Malcolm Butler recognized the offensive scheme and intercepted the pass to seal a New England victory, and deliver coach Belichick his fourth NFL championship.
Naturally, fans wanted to congratulate the guy on Twitter; such is the age we live in. There is just one problem. They tweeted at the wrong player.
Yeah, both of their last names are Butler. And sure, they both play the same position. In fact, Darius Butler, the Indianapolis Colts corner that fans had accidentally tweeted to, was even drafted by the Patriots and played there for two seasons. However, that does not change the fact that he was not on the field Sunday night. Instead, he was watching at home, like the rest of us; and probably surprised that he was receiving credit for such a monumental play.
The good news for the fans whose Tweets are featured below; Butler is a good sport. In fact, a few of his responses are absolutely priceless. Check them out.
