National Signing Day is upon us. It is a time when the NCAA football cycle begins again at the highest level. Division I powerhouses are looking for depth, while former title contenders look to rebuild their programs. It is a day of life-changing decisions for young men, who will sign a letter of intent that will link them to a national brand for their foreseeable future.
Leading up to the big day, many sports media organizations will keep track of, and rank recruits. ESPN has a list of the top 300. On said list is defensive tackle Terry Beckner, who got a little emotional when announcing his commitment choice today.
Beckner, the no. 2 overall recruit and no. 1 DT in the nation, will attend the University of Missouri this coming Fall. It gives a slight boost to a team that should be favored at the moment to repeat as SEC Eastern division champions.
The high school star let loose a stream of tears when announcing his choice, choosing Mizzou over his other two programs under consideration; Auburn and Ohio State.
Heading into today, Rivals.com had Missouri ranked 24th in overall recruiting, however, the addition of Beckner is likely to bring that figure soaring up, as it will be the program’s first five-star commitment of 2015. Below is a video is Beckner’s decision. Enjoy.
