Roma midfielder Kevin Strootman’s career could be at risk after his surgery allegedly didn’t go perfectly.
There is bad news for Kevin Strootman after former Roma doctor Mario Brozzi commented on his injury.

The Dutch international missed the World Cup in Brazil last year after requiring surgery on his ligament while he has only made six appearances in Serie A this season.
A recurrence of his ligament problems last month required Strootman to have surgery again. The midfielder was naturally disappointed as he wrote on his Twitter profile:
“The scar tissue from my previous operation has been removed successfully today,” Strootman tweeted. “Unfortunately some cartilaginous damage, caused by the knock in the Fiorentina match, was found too.”
“This means I have to take a longer rest period than anticipated earlier and I am extremely disappointed that it will take much longer before I can be back on the pitch again.”
Notably however, neither club nor player had an estimate of when Strootman would return and according to Brozzi, there is ‘no way out’ for the 25-year-old.
“My impression is that the surgery on Strootman’s ligament did not go perfectly,” Brozzi said. “I don’t know what happened to his knee, but his Cyclops syndrome results from a problem in the ligament’s position.
“The cartilaginous damage is determined by the extensive deficit. Now, if this is the situation, I see no way out. But it’s not up to me to say whether further surgery is needed.”
Strootman had his operation conducted in Holland, which Brozzi seemed to be against.
“When I was in Rome, the only surgery we performed outside Trigoria was for [former striker Vincenzo] Montella, who went to Switzerland. When everybody starts going away, it means that nobody’s going to be cured anymore.”
It would be a huge shame if Strootman weren’t to come back from his injury troubles as he has the potential to be one of the best midfielders in the world with clubs like Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal all linked with him in the past.
