What have been the best five moves in NFL free agency so far? Read on.

Since the new league year officially started on Tuesday, we have had an absolute NFL free agency frenzy on our hands. Teams have thrown a ton of money around, we’ve seen more trades than usual and big names have swapped jerseys quickly. But just because a team makes a big move, doesn’t mean it is one of the best moves.

Ndamukong Suh was the biggest name on the market this offseason and the Miami Dolphins landed him. While that’s certainly a huge move, giving $60 million in guaranteed money to a defensive tackle doesn’t qualify as a smart move in my book. Suh is undoubtedly a phenomenal player but he doesn’t deserve the same salary as a franchise quarterback.

For a move to be truly beneficial to a franchise it must add talent to the roster, fill a need and be cost-effective. For that reason I also don’t think the Philadelphia Eagles signing DeMarco Murray for $21 million in guaranteed money qualifies as one of the best deals of the weak either. A 27-year-old running back coming off of a season when he had a ridiculous 497 touches does not deserve that kind of money.

Additionally, I loved that the New York Jets were able to re-sign Darrelle Revis and steal him from a division rival to do so. But Revis will be 30 when the season kicks off, and while he is a phenomenal cover corner, he also just got $39 million in guaranteed money. That move filled a need and added a fantastic talent to the roster, but it wasn’t cost-effective by any stretch of the imagination.

What follows are what I believe qualify as the five best moves during the first few days of NFL free agency.
