Free agent running back Trent Richardson has reportedly signed with the Oakland Raiders.
The Oakland Raiders and free agent running back Trent Richardson have come to terms on a two year deal. The contract is worth a reported $3.9 million over two years. The total can increase up to $4 million on incentives, according to NFL insider Ian Rapoport. The three year veteran was released by the Indianapolis Colts last Thursday.

The third overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, Richardson was hyped up to be a canāt miss prospect at running back; perhaps the best of his kind since Adrian Peterson was selected seventh overall in 2007 by the Minnesota Vikings.
However, after a somewhat promising rookie season in 2012 with Cleveland, one which saw the Alabama product score 11 touchdowns on the ground, Richardson showed regression in 2013, and was traded to the Colts after only two games. He would never live up to his pre-draft hype in Indy either.
His striking lack of production can be attributed to factors besides himself however. While with the Browns, Richardson never had the luxury of a great offensive line. While playing for the Colts, he was also splitting carries with Donald Brown in 2013, and Ahman Bradshaw and Dan Herron in 2014.
Nevertheless, his career average of 3.3 yards per attempt carries a great deal of concern for any head coach. The Raiders might have to look for additional support on the ground, especially when considering the previous playing time, or lack thereof, of Roy Helu.
