Drunk Royals fan storms field, then thinks better of it (video)
Typically when a drunk fan runs out onto the field, hilarity ensues. However, one Kansas City Royals fan wanted to change that perception.

There is a general rule of thumb when a fan jumps the wall and storms onto a field of play; don’t get caught. While it is always a losing endeavour, most of these brave souls are at least surprisingly squirmy, finding a way to prolong their moment under the lights as long as possible. Inevitably though, the runner always gets caught, sometimes with some hilarious results.
This isn’t one of those situations.
During last night’s series opener between the Kansas City Royals and the Detroit Tigers at Kauffman Stadium, one brave Royals fan, perhaps made braver by the consumption of some tasty beverage, opted to give it a try. As you can see from the video below, it didn’t quite as well as planned.
His initial motives seem pretty solid. He went through the efforts of removing any valuables or anything that could be broken, handing them to a friend (or at the very least an accomplice). He then removed his shirt and handed it to his friend as well, but that removed with it the fun of having something to wave around on the field when running around like a drunken clown. Our hero then hops the fence and he’s off to the races.
Well, almost.
It appears either that our friend either had a change of conscious or he was perplexed by the size and speed of Alex Gordon running toward him, as he immediately swerved toward the infield and handed himself over to an approaching security guard.
That’s right folks, no desire for fame, this gentleman’s sole intention was to get arrested. Perhaps he wanted to turn himself in for some unknown crime. Maybe he was simply reaching out for some help. Or perhaps he simply wanted a guided tour in handcuffs through the dugout. Whatever it was folks, let this be a lesson for you.
Always think things out before hopping the fence.
