Stephen A. Smith has apologized for his very regrettable remarks in regards to the U.S. Women’s National Team

ESPN personality Stephen A. Smith was making headlines once again on Friday, and once again it was for the wrong reasons. As a matter of fact, his words were so regrettable and drew so much steam that it’s prompted to issue an apology.

For those that maybe need catching up really quick, on Thursday night’s edition of SportsCenter, Smith was going through the SC Top 10, and one of the clips that came across the screen was a goal in the Women’s World Cup by Norway’s Maren Mjelde. This led Smith to taking his comments a bit too far once again, proclaiming, “They might not have wanted to mess their hair up.”

Again, people caught onto these offensive comments pretty quickly and it blew up the internet on Friday. Because of this, Smith had this to say moments ago on Twitter:

Still doesn’t make it right, and this certainly isn’t the first time in the last few months that Smith has said something regrettable on the ESPN airwaves. Something has to give here, eventually. Hopefully this is the last incident for quite a while, because at this point the really sad part is that we almost know it won’t be the last.
