Bengals rookie Derron Smith turned some heads in practice on Monday with this pretty awesome interception

In the sixth round of the 2015 NFL Draft, the Cincinnati Bengals selected defensive back Derron Smith out of Fresno State. Of course, as a sixth-round selection, there’s really no guarantee that he’ll make it on the field for some significant time. As practices continue here in August, he’s going to have to make some pretty noticeable plays in front of the coaches.

On Monday, Smith more than caught the attention of the coaches with one play that he made.

While going through drills, Smith made this absolutely incredible one-handed interception, picking off former Alabama quarterback AJ McCarron.

Yeah, if you’re looking to get out there on the field once it comes time for the regular season, this is definitely the way to go about it. Making a pick like this will have all the coaches talking when they’re in the room doing their evaluations. That ball was more than well behind him, yet he was able to make the snag anyway.

If Smith can keep up this level of play, he’ll definitely come in handy against the likes of Ben Roethlisberger in the AFC North.
