Internet trolls are laying siege to Lane Kiffin’s Twitter page.

If you have at all dipped your toes into the waters of college football Twitter today, you have probably seen the rumors swirling around the Alabama Crimson Tide football program.

Nothing is confirmed at the moment, so take all this with a biggest grain of salt that you can manage to extract from your salt shaker, but the scuttlebutt is that Alabama offensive coordinator (and national punchline) Lane Kiffin is in hot water because he slept with either a) the wife of one of the Crimson Tide’s boosters or b) head coach Nick Saban’s daughter.

As tends to happen with situations like these, the Wikipedia trolls are out in full force, facts be damned. Lane Kiffin’s page was locked not too long ago, but not before a few committed trolls made some edits.

A few unsolicited observations:

1) Living in a world where one of the biggest and most important sources of information can be altered to reflect unsubstantiated rumors is quite a trip. Remember that the next time one of your buddies tries to settle an argument by pulling up a Wikipedia page on his or her phone.

2) Listing Kristen Saban as an “award” won by Lane Kiffin is gross. News flash: women have agency! They are not awards or trophies. [Insert “shut up you PC fascist!” retort here.]

3) Kiffin-related schadenfreude seems to the the college football world’s drug of choice. I suppose that’s what happens you constantly burn bridges yet manage to consistently fail upwards.

If you want to look through the edits one at a time, you can do so here.

We will keep you update as the drama at Alabama continues to unfold.
