NBA FanDuel Top 5 Plays For February 1st
Welcome to February everyone. Sorry for the absence yesterday, I started writing Monday night than hoped to finish Tuesday morning. I obviously didn’t get done but I hope you all still had a great night. We have a huge NBA FanDuel slate tonight with 12 games on tap. Slates like this are going to require huge scoring to make the cash line in both 50/50’s and GPP’s. I generally play a little less bankroll on nights like this but I will go with 80% of it in 50/50’s and 20% in GPP’s (tournaments). Bankroll management is a huge key to being success playing DFS over the long haul. No matter how hot you get, you gotta stay within your means because you can go cold on any given night.
We have some interesting match-ups tonight across the board. The lowest total thus far is Milwaukee and Utah at 198 and two games have the highest total of 223, New York at Brooklyn and Charlotte at Golden St. I think attacking the Knicks and Nets game is a better idea because that game is expected to be a little closer and the players are cheaper so you get a lot of projected points at a cheaper price to give you room to pay up for some of the high-priced guys tonight. There are some great match-ups in that game as well that I plan to take advantage of. Like always I will give you my top GPP player to pay up for, who I’m fading in GPP’s, my cash game lock, my best GPP value play, and my top overall player The PayMaker. Let’s get to it.
NBA FanDuel – Top GPP Target and Player to Fade
Eric Bledsoe $9,400
I know I recommended fading him during his last game, and he didn’t disappoint that decision with going for 26 FanDuel points. He and his team were paced down in a tough match-up against the Grizzlies. Tonight I’m willing to roll the dice on him against a Clippers team that hasn’t been the same against PG’s since the injury to Chris Paul. In fact, over the past week the Clippers have given up the most FanDuel points to PG’s, and by a wide margin.
Last time against the Clippers, Bledsoe scored 47.1 FDP’s in Los Angeles. Tonight he is at home, he is still the main scorer on the team, and I think he can take advantage of the poor defense of the backup Clipper guards and reach the 50 point mark. Because of the other options at PG and him throwing up a stinker in his last game, I think Bledsoe will not be highly owned and makes for a great pivot off the likes of Westbrook and IT2.
Carmelo Anthony $8,500
I’m going out on a limb here but I’m going to fade Anthony today. The Knicks are not only playing on the back-end of a back to back, but they are also playing their 3rd game in 4 nights. In one of those games Anthony played 46 minutes because of the 4 OT’s that were played against the Atlanta Hawks. I think Porzingis sat out last night so he could get more run tonight against a horrible Nets team that the Knicks can likely beat without much help from Anthony. There is also a chance he could sit this one out completely for rest, but if he plays I’m fading him
NBA FanDuel – Cash Game Lock and GPP Value Play
Norman Powell $4,200
DeMar DeRozan is out once again and that will mean a full run from Norman Powell. He has taken advantage of DeRozan’s absence of late and has proven to be a nice fill in player for him while he is out. Last night Powell put up 32.3 FDP’s in 40 minutes. Even if Powell doesn’t reach that total, at this price tag he only needs about 21 FDP’s to make 5x and I think he gets that today, especially facing a Boston Celtics team missing Avery Bradley, who is one of their better back court defenders. I think he will be extremely popular, but in cash games ownership % doesn’t mean as much. Feel free to roll him out with confidence and use him as a cash saver in your cash game lineups.
Tony Allen $4,500
The think to keep in mind with the value plays is that I’m looking for the really cheap player that has a chance to help your lineup make someone else fit and not totally ruin your lineup. I’m not expecting a huge game out of this player, but enough to be respectable for his price. Because of those limited expectations I do not have much exposure to this player but he will be used in a couple lineups.
Tonight Allen draws a Denver Nuggets team that is completely reeling in their backcourt with injuries. They are giving up over 47 FP’s over the past week to opposing shooting guards and is ranked 29th vs the position overall. Memphis will be paced up in this one and I think Allen has a chance to have a nice stat line and really be a solid contributor to your lineup. Now let’s take a look at tonight’s top PayMaker.
NBA FanDuel – Top PayMaker
Mike Conley $7,900
Coming off a monster game scoring 60.7 FDP’s Conley gets another outstanding match-up getting paced up in Denver. This game is supposed to stay close as the Grizz are a 3.5 point road favorite in a game they are expected to score almost 10 points above their season average.

I like Conley to keep it rolling today and reach at least 42 FDP’s. I do not think he will reach 60 again but at this price I can live with him reaching 40. I will have a lot of exposure to him in all formats tonight with a chance to reach his ceiling of 50+ FDP’s.
Like I mentioned earlier I will be toning it down a little today due to the amount of games on the slate. I will be more cash game heavy than normal but still have a few tournament lineups. In cash games I am almost positive you will need over 300 points tonight to be in the money so when you project your lineup I would aim for that number at a minimum.
Please keep an eye on the Knicks and Kristaps Porzingis, if he plays I will definitely have him in my lineups in this match-up against the Nets. I think there is a chance he plays and Carmelo doesn’t, if that happens I’m all in on Kristaps. If he doesn’t play then GHG is someone I would consider playing. After tonight we will have a completely opposite slate with only 4 games for Thursday night. Have a great night and good luck!
