NBA FanDuel DFS Top 5 Plays Of The Day For February 6th 2017

Welcome back to another week of NBA FanDuel.  The NBA is going to do it’s best to follow such a fantastic Super Bowl with 11 games on the slate tonight.  The highest total on the board is Phoenix at New Orleans listed at 221.  The Cavs at Wizards and Lakers at Knicks are close behind with a total at 220.  Those games have some great players to target and will likely be popular to stack.  On the low-end Utah at Atlanta has a total at 197.5 and San Antonio at Memphis has a total at 202.5.  With the totals in those 2 games so low it will be easy to fade the players in those match-ups.

A quick review of Saturday makes the goal for today pretty simple…..have each player I mention actually play tonight.  Once again a late scratch absolutely destroyed my lineups as Kyrie Irving did not play against the Knicks.  There as no evidence that this would happen, and of course we did not learn of this until after lineup lock.  That made it the 2nd night in a row that one of the guys I targeted was a late scratch after lock had passed.  So, no need to go any further, my lineups were done once that happened and I failed to reach the pay line on all of my contests.

The highlight of my night was Hassan Whiteside going off for 30 actual points and 20 rebounds which helped him score 57 FDP’s.  I have no choice but to put that behind me and move on to the great slate we have ahead of us tonight.  I will be spending 70% of my bankroll on cash games (50/50’s) and 30% on GPP’s (tournaments).  Let’s take a look at who I’m spending up for and who I’m fading in GPP’s.

NBA Fanduel – Top Player To Spend and Fade In GPP’s

Karl-Anthony Towns $10,200

We learned on Saturday that Zach LaVine will miss the rest of the season due to a torn ACL.  He averaged 18.9 points per game and that scoring has to be made up by someone.  When you take a look at the Timberwolves, there aren’t very many guys that can score.  I think the offense will run through Towns and Wiggins moving forward and Ricky Rubio should also see an uptick in production.  Despite his great game the other night Whiteside has really been slacking on the defensive side of things this season.  I have had some success targeting centers against him and will look to do that tonight.  I think Towns will reach more than 50 FDP’s tonight and could be slightly overlooked at the center position, with Andre Drummond or DeMarcus Cousins being the chalk plays tonight.

LeBron James $11,200

Fading LeBron today is purely price related to me.  James is the best overall player in the NBA and always has a chance to be the top fantasy scorer on any given night, but that given night doesn’t happen often enough for me to pay this much for him.  He is averaging 47.9 FDP’s per game, but hasn’t eclipsed the 60 point mark since December.  Irving is supposed to be back tonight which should bring down James’ production a little, and Love seems good to go after making his return last game.  If I spend over 11K today on a player it will be on Anthony Davis or Russell Westbrook. Both of those guys have outstanding match-ups tonight and could easily outperform James on a fantasy point basis.  Now let’s take a look at my cash game lock and GPP value flier.

NBA FanDuel – Cash Game Lock and GPP Flier

Yogi Ferrell $5,600

In cash games tonight Ferrell is almost a must play.  He turned a 10 day contract into a 2 year deal and looks like he is well worth it.  He is averaging 31.35 FDP’s over his last 4 games and has a phenomenal match-up tonight against Denver.  I will be plugging him in my cash games as long as his price stays this cheap.  You can pair him up with John Wall and still have a lot of room to add 1 or 2 more high-priced guys.  Williams is already listed as doubtful tonight so that means Ferrell will continue to get a full run at the PG position for the Mavericks.  With the total for this game at 214 you can plug Ferrell in with confidence that he at least returns 5x.

Lavoy Allen $3,500

Thaddeus Young has already been ruled out of tonight’s game so Allen will likely draw the start again.  In his last game against the Pistons Allen had 39.7 FDP’s.  The match-up tonight against the Thunder isn’t as appealing as the last one, but with him getting a full run he could easily outperform his price.  An added bonus could happen if Myles Turner is unable to go tonight.  Turner is listed as questionable with an illness.  If Turner is out there will only be a few big men available for the Pacers.  If you are going more stars and scrubs tonight Allen provides a great amount of salary relief which will help you fit in some of the more expensive players on the slate tonight. Now it’s time for today’s top PayMaker.

NBA FanDuel – Top PayMaker

Anthony Davis $11,300

As I mentioned earlier I’m willing to pay up for Davis tonight.  He is going up against one of the most fantasy friendly teams in the NBA in the Phoenix Suns.  Davis usually performs better at home, and Phoenix just doesn’t have anyone that will be able to stop him.  He is averaging 50.6 FDP’s on the season and I think that is his floor tonight.

More from FanSided

The injury concern with Davis is always something you must consider, but he has played 33 minutes or more in his last 5 games and seems to be healthy.  I think Davis has a chance to be the highest scorer on the slate tonight and I will definitely have a lot of exposure to him.  However, a lesson learned over the past couple nights is to not put all your eggs in one basket, so I will not have him in 100% of my lineups.

I really like the way the slate looks tonight and the different approaches you can take.  There are some great value options to make it possible to go stars and scrubs, as well as some nice mid range options to stay more balanced.  I like the idea of running a couple of game stacks as well with the Lakers/Knicks, and Suns/Pelicans being two of the more popular games to stack.

I personally will look to stack the Cavs/Wizards as the Wizards are looking to get some attention as a contender in the East while riding a 17 game home win streak.  That game has the Wizards as a 1 point favorite with the total at 220.  Follow me on twitter @Bruce_Lamb as it gets closer to lock I will try to send or retweet any updates to the slate.  As always Good Luck tonight!
